My Job

One of the greatest quotes ever:

"My job consists of basically masking my contempt for the assholes in charge and at least once a day retiring to the mensroom so I can jerk off while I fantasize about a life that doesn't so closely resemble hell!!"

A little conversation

Jack
Matt

I have the file...
but I don't need it anymore.
It's been taken care of.
You know. It never happened.
But it did happen. Right?
Right.
So, now what?
I'm going to dinner with my wife...
her parents.
And this weekend, I'm gonna go look at a boat.
And then on Monday, I'm gonna come back in here and go to work.
And then...
magically this whole...
incredible day just somehow...
becomes a memory.
It's like you go to the beach.
You go down to the water.
It's a little cold.
You're not sure if you wanna go in.
There's a pretty girlstanding next to you.
She doesn't wanna go in either.
She sees you.
And you know...
if you just asked her
her name...
you would leave with her.
Forget your life,
whoever you came with...
and leave the beach with her.
And after that day...
you remember her.
Not every day, every week.
She comes back to you.
It's the memory...
of another life...
you could've had.
Today is that girl.
I'm sorry about what I did.
Me too.
You brought the file back.

Already There

A poem again since a long time.
It is one I particularly like because of the underlying thought when I wrote it.

Already There

when you trade in all your rainy days
for one tsunami wave
when even honesty seems so cliche
it takes one brave set of lungs
to scream out what you understate

I know there's more to this world
than simply space and time
for I sense a world of wonder
lying behind this doubting mind

it's in little things, like words and deeds
like things you know, yet need to hear
waiting a moment to hold the door
or wiping away one single tear

more than the earth on which I lie,
and more than the air I breathe
I need her embrace
so gentle but with a strength
to make my heart skip a beat

I'm certain she's calling me
but I am already there
even when nothing's changed
it seems the easier it gets to say
the faster all its meaning goes away
like a long conversation
on a short winter day

Modern life sucks!!

In this boring life of us
every once and a while
we meet a certain someone
and love brings us a fairytale!!

Age

We don't stop playing because we get old
We get old because we stop playing
