Trip to Germany

I'm at work this saturday morning again as nothing ever happenned.
Last thursday we departed from home in Ridderkerk towards Hanau in Germany where we had to meet some relatives and be there for the funeral the following day. At first it seemed it was going to be the standard drive as we had for several times already in the past few years but nothing was less true.
I drove till the borderline and then my dad took over and what do you know? he gets lost in the first 15 minutes. We tried getting back on track for like an hour and thus we arrived fairly late in the evening in Hanau.
The host wasn't very himself and kept on going on and on and talking till 3 in the morning so we couldn't get really much sleep as he woke us at 7 a.m. and told us to get things ready for the funeral at 2 p.m. So we did.
Anyway first of all we did all the work and we were really exhausted and aggrevated as we had to return home THAT night and it is a 6 hour drive in the godforsaken darkness of the German Autobahn. Anyway we had planned to depart at around 6 p.m. but eventually we departed at 9.15 p.m. way too late. And yes what do you know my dad decided to drive us out to the autobahn and he GOT lost AGAIN and AGAIN.
in the end we got out of the city and on the Autobahn by 10.15 p.m.
It's pitch dark and he can't drive so anyway after like an hour we stopped and I took over the driving. Fattah went ahead and I followed him till the border.
pitch dark, all alone, no one ahead and no one behind us. Silvery moon and the bright stars in the twilight. Almost a perfect picture. That IS a kodak moment!
We arrived at 2 a.m.
